Inspired by our children, who are in 4th and 2nd grades at Angell Elementary School in Ann Arbor, I have become involved in several different kinds of activities to evoke enthusiasm, inquiry, and an appreciation of science distinct from technology. These activities have included class room visits with activities and demos, large demo lectures at the University of Michigan, hands-on winter recess activities, and the Washtenaw Science Olympiad.
